There aren’t enough words for Christina & Derek’s wedding day, even between them.
“I’ve never been great at putting my feelings into words,” Derek said. “The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I was trying too hard to write the perfect words, when loving you is easy. It’s all that really matters.”
(Personally, I thought that was pretty good myself)
Christina also seemed to have to think through what her relationship with Derek really meant to her, and how they had waited so long for this moment.
The day had lots of really nice, personal touches – Super Mario costumes, personalized handkerchiefs, and the Kentucky Derby showing outside their reception.
For me personally, I really loved hearing the story from Fr. Lewis, as he recounted not only when Christina & Derek were engaged, but also how they decided to be together.
“You both knew what you both shared in your hearts for one another, and what you hoped in your hearts for the other was so unlike anything you had ever experienced before,” he said, “that you both wanted to make the important decision together – to keep this relationship, to nurture it, to help it to grow. The fruit of which leads you here today.”
The weather definitely wasn’t ideal – there was rain throughout the day, but it did not damper this amazing wedding day. “It’s life’s journey,” Derek said. “It’s going to be us, together, through everything.”
